Can I Special Order Color Or Fabrics For My Sofas

I know that it is tempting, especially if you are working with a designer, to want to special order upholstery in special fabrics or colors. To make this easy, the answer is absolutely no, sorry. We offer only the best selling fabrics and colors and we have our good reasons.

The main reason we do this is cost and time. Most fabrics are currently manufactured in China. Almost all of the United States manufacturers are out of business. Scary huh? What this means is if you wanted a special color or fabric, first there is a time lag factor. We might have to order from China and wait for the slow boat. Even if the fabric is stocked in the United States, we still have to go and purchase it, get set up to cut it to fit the upholstery and deal with any under purchases or over purchases of fabric, all costing time and money. There are small manufacturers out there that will do this for you but they charge big money because it costs them big money.

What our manufacturers do is "marry" a fabric to a frame style in one or two of the best selling colors and fabrics for that style. Soooo, please don't ask if you can have a fabric or color offered on one style be put on another style of upholstery. The fabrics are "married" and no divorce is allowed. Why? There is a money reason. Our designers decide what fabric works best and sells best with what sofa frame. When the sofas are manufactured, they literally cut up to 50 or more slices of the upholstery covers at one time, saving tons of time and money over cutting one or two at a time. Everything is set up to mass produce. There is little waste as everything is figured out to be cut most efficiently by computer. Special orders would bog us down. Our upholstery manufacturers build the best product for the lowest price with the most saleability.
